New Order plays Joy Division

New Order breaks out a Joy Division song every now and then. Here is a collection of all my favorites. You get She's Lost Control, Heart & Soul, Warsaw and about 10 more.

Bowden Vale

Joy Division's legendary performance at the Bowden Vale Youth Club. This show was also videotaped. This recording is from the mixing desk and is not one of my favorite recordings but it is indeed the best early recording of the band.

The Lyceum

Joy Division's performance at the Lyceum, in London, on Feburary 29th, 1980. This is a hodgepodge of a few different sources. The soundcheck comes from Duncan's master. Three tracks from the concert comes from Heart & Soul, one track from a matrix of Duncan's master and newly discovered partial soundboard recording. The guy at PoIT did the work and let me say that it is hands down the greatest single recording of a live Joy Division song.

Everything is so clear and the drums and bass thump like the should. It sounds absolutely beautiful. If we could have gotten the whole show it really would have sold some high numbers. What if.....

the rest of the CD represents some shady bootleg CD. It is the "worst" of the four sources. I've included an MP3 set of yet another audience records. For comparisons sake.

It took forever for me to compile the best lossless source I could find, but I found it, and here it is. Though it would be a dream come if Duncan's master started circulating. I'm sure quite a few people have it already.

And another note for the people at Power of Independent Trucking blog. Can you squeeze anything else out of the sounboard? These Days sounds fucking phenomenal.

The Effenaar

Joy Division's performance on Janurary 18th, 1980 in Eindhoven, Holland. The complete 16 song set is one of the better Joy Division recordings, also not officially released in full. An audience recording that has actually fooled people as a soundboard, it's definitely one full of energy. Ice Age is a particular favorite.

Paradiso

Joy Division's Performance at the Paradiso, in Amsterdam, January 11th, 1980. This version is special because it's sourced from the Dutch Radio Broadcast, the original radio disc. So this is the only pre-fm Joy Division show ever, and the sound quality is absolutely amazing. The complete 17 song set, although Passover is missing the first two minutes. It's like that on all known recordings. This is the best version of this concert, or any other Joy Division concert, and absolutely trumps the master soundboard that started circulating last year.

Moonlight

Joy Division's first two nights at the Moonlight Club. They played three, but the last night only exists in horrid quality. This particular upload is the M2 Remaster, done by the guy who worked on the 2007 reissues. Sister Ray was left off, so I included an mp3 done by a special someone who matrixed the Still version with the audience recording, so you have the complete show. If you want Sister Ray in FLAC, download Still. This is one of the better non-released Joy Division concerts.

Everything Else

Included here are the RCA Demos (from the WARSAW CD), The Genetic Demos, The Central Sound Demos, two Unknown Pleasures outtakes, two early Warsaw demos, and the live recording of Leaders of Men from 1977 that Hooky broadcasted over the radio.

I will upload the very first Warsaw demos later.

Les Baines Douches

Joy Division - Les Baines Douches - Dec 18th, 1979
This is a matrix of all known broadcasts, including the recent 2010 Broadcast. There is zero DJ Chatter, as i've patched it over using the other sources. This is the ultimate version of this concert. The complete 16 song set.
